The opportunity, the opportunity to empower people, I think, is one of the most awesome opportunities in the world, and probably one of the most awesome responsibilities in the world, and I think that I want to have more of an opportunity to do that, when I try to understand, to put into a short sentence, 'what is it that we do with All About FERS, All About CSRS, and All About TSP? What are we trying to do?'
Honestly, what we're trying to do is we're trying to empower you. We're trying to put you in the driver's seat. We don't mind being in the car with you, we don't mind looking at the map for you, we don't mind helping you understand what's the best way to go. Or when we hit a traffic jam, how do we get around it? I want that role. That's the role I really want. But, I want to make sure that we're actually headed where you want to go. I want to make sure that you are getting there the way you want to get there, that whatever type of journey that you want to experience along the way...
...If you're the type of person who wakes up at 4:00 o'clock in the morning and drives for the next 20 hours so they can say they got there, well, then that's what we'll do. Or if you're the type of person who wakes up at 8:00 o'clock in the morning, and drives for four hours and takes an hour lunch, and then drive some other two hours and takes another hour break, and you just get there when you get there. Well, then let's do that too. We can do it that way as well.
But for you to set the pace, for you to understand where you really want to get too, I want to be part of that conversation. I want to be part of that experience, but I want to make sure that you're in control of that. That you are the one who are who can really decide, make the decisions that you're most comfortable with, and so I'm hoping to empower you. To make sure that you feel confident and competent to make any investment decision, to make any benefit insurance decision, to make sure that any career or retirement decision, that it's not just me giving you permission to do something, 'I want to do this, can I?' It's more about, 'this is what's best for me, this is why it's best for me, what's the best way to do this?' That's what I'm hoping we get to, and I'm happy to be a part of that process to make sure that you feel like you're not only competent, but you're confident in what you're trying to do, why you're trying to do it, and what the possibilities truly are.
